Yeah, typhoons are common occurrences in the Philippines. The only thing that makes this unusual is the flooding that it caused to Metropolitan Manila. Plus the fact that there were 5 consecutive typhoons (including one super typhoon) in the past 3 weeks. Metro Manila hasn't flooded like this since 2009, during Typhoon Ketsana.
